The Swiss driver continued the good momentum started two weeks ago in Estoril, setting the best time in the qualifying session ahead of Luca Bernardi and Manuel Gonzalez.

Unlike the Superbike which had the right to a final free practice session to get into shape this morning, the Supersport category got straight to the heart of the matter with the holding of the Superpole. Many drivers could legitimately claim to achieve the best time, whether it was the championship leader Steven Odendaal, the man in form of the moment and latest winner Dominique Aegerter, or even Manuel Gonzalez, who monopolized the top of the hierarchy all day yesterday.

First Superpole for Aegerter

Ultimately, it was the Swiss driver who was the fastest in the session, thus signing his first Superpole in the category ahead of Luca Bernardi and Manuel Gonzalez. The latter failed to convert his domination during free practice into Superpole today, but should be able to play for victory this afternoon in Race 1.

Jules cluzel will take the second row of the grid ahead of Hannes Soomer and the championship leader, Steven Odendaal, who has been discreet to say the least so far at Misano. Philipp Öttl qualifies in seventh place, ahead of the last winner on the Italian track, Randy Krummenacher, who won on the Marco Simoncelli circuit during the last edition in 2019. Can Öncü completes the third row , but could perhaps have aimed higher in the rankings if he had not fallen during his final flying lap.

Two falls for Tuuli

A little further down the hierarchy, we find in 11th place Federico Caricasulo, disappointing on home soil but who will try to make up for it in the race and reproduce his performance from 2018, when he won at home. Finally, we will note the session to forget by Niki Tuuli. The Finn trashed his qualifications by falling twice during these 20 minutes. He will start this afternoon from 15th place on the grid.
