After 7 years in MotoGP, Héctor Barberá began this 2018 season as a Moto2 rider with the Sito Pons team before being ejected in June following an arrest for drunk driving.

Sentenced to 22 days of community service and a year of license suspension, the Valencian then headed to the Puccetti Kawasaki team in Supersport, without very convincing results at the end of the 4 races completed.

In 2019, he will find in Supersport the Hungarian team Toth with whom he had shone in 2007 and 2008 in 250cc before being vice-champion of the category the following year... with the Pons team baptized this season "Pépé World Team"!

Riding a Yamaha R6 next year, the Spanish rider hopes to return to the forefront: “The races contested this year with the Puccetti team did not go as planned, but they allowed me to learn more about Supersport and to understand that the Yamaha was the best bike in the championship. My goal is always to win and I am very happy to ride a Yamaha.
Furthermore, I will race with the Tóth team after the 250 cc experience during the period 2007/2008 and I am very happy because at that time we had achieved good results (including eight podiums) and I I really felt at home.”
