The Suzuki team carried out tests at the Aragon circuit for two days, on Tuesday and Wednesday, after the Moto3 and Moto2 teams took possession of the track on Monday. The conditions were very good, with a temperature of 25° for the air and 35° for the track, which allowed Andrea Iannone to complete 170 laps and Alex Rins 142.

Most of these two days of testing focused on a new chassis intended for use in 2018. For the moment, the GSX-RRs will be equipped with the current chassis to travel to Motegi, Phillip Island and Sepang for the next three consecutive Grands Prix. The 2017 frame will also be used for the last GP of the year in Valencia, and the new one will be tested the following Monday during the official test day.

According to team manager Davide Brivio, “ We are happy with these two days, because it is important to find time, away from pressure, to go back to some things we have already tried, and try other improvements.

“The weather in Aragon has been favorable so that we can test new configurations that can be used in the remaining part of this season, and also test new parts for the 2018 machine that we would like to prepare for the Valencia test in November. We want to test the first new 2018 configuration there. »

Still according to Brivio, “ It will not be a completely new motorcycle, but an evolution of the current GSX-RR. Here in Aragon we made our first tests with new solutions and we were able to give important feedback to the engineers.

“I would say we have been working with one eye towards the end of this season and the other towards next year. Of course, these tests are also incredibly important for pilots. Alex gains more and more experience and Andrea improves her feeling with the bike. »
