Motegi is the only circuit in the championship where the use of 340mm brake discs is mandatory for all MotoGP.

For some of them, this doesn't change anything because they already use them on the vast majority of circuits, like the Yamahas. The reason for this is certain advantages, in terms of heat dissipation and wear.
Official Hondas generally prefer 320mm discs, a little lighter and supposed to make the bike more manageable. But for this round, there will be no choice...

The 340 mm discs are available in Low Mass and High Mass versions. The first is new for 2016 and offers 85% more braking surface compared to 320 mm discs for only a hundred grams more. The High Mass version offers 120% more braking surface for more than 120 grams more.
