The private test that several WorldSBK teams and some MotoGP riders had planned for January 20 and 21 at the Jerez – Ángel Nieto circuit in Jerez ended in a very frustrating way yesterday due to the weather conditions.

Due to rain which fell very intensely on Wednesday and occasionally on Thursday morning on the circuit rented by Kawasaki, the Superbike riders preferred not to use one of their precious days of testing authorized but counted by the regulations, and are remained in their box, thus drawing up a very unproductive final assessment. Only the four drivers not directly affected by these regulations took to the track to do a few laps in conditions that were far from ideal.

As a result, Honda has decided to re-rent the circuit on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th to run not only the WorldSBK team with Alvaro Bautista et Leon Haslam under the direction of Leon Camier, but also its MotoGP Test Team with Stefan Bradl.

For the moment, only Kawasaki has announced its presence on Thursday with Jonathan Rhea et alex lowes, but we can assume that registrations will multiply depending on weather forecast. Currently, these are much better than what the pilots have just encountered, with the return of the sun and expected temperatures of 20°.

For its part, Ducati announced “ work to find a new date and a new circuit as soon as possible ".
