The Italian Grand Prix will soon take place, two weeks after Le Mans, and Ducati wants to be able to perform well in front of its fans. To this end, Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso toured the Tuscan circuit this Monday to determine the correct settings for the GP17.

Andrea started his season well with a second place at Losail, then a sixth position followed in Texas and a fifth at Jerez. Jorge had more difficulty at the start, with an eleventh place in Qatar then a ninth in Austin, but the tide turned in Spain where he climbed to the third step of the podium.

Gigi Dall'Igna, the Director of Ducati Corse, was delighted with this third place, but for him it is not enough.

According to Gigi, “We are not racing for third place, our goals were more ambitious before the start of the World Championship and have not changed. We took a wrong turn and, after Qatar, we worked to put things right.

“Jerez was the first fruit and we were even more heartened by the responses we received on the day of the test which took place after the GP, still on the Andalusian track. We were in Mugello to continue this work. »

During this test day, there was no new fairing. The one tested this winter in Qatar was not satisfactory, and the new one has not yet been finalized.

“With the fairing we tried in Qatar, before the season we set targets that were too difficult, so we stopped development. We only have one homologation option, so we want to make sure we arrive at a solution that gives us the most benefit, even if it means waiting another 2-3 races. We will be ready by mid-season. »
