The three days set up for private testing end at Sepang, a track which is now preparing for the start of the MotoGP season for official tests which will begin on the 30th. A preparation which we hope is entirely focused on the state of a track which suffers from a new coating which refuses to dry as soon as let a downpour wet it. A pitfall which has seriously disrupted the work of the last three days. And yet, there were things to validate, both at Ducat and at Yamaha. And even at Honda.
The most unhappy with this situation were undoubtedly the Ducati men who spared no effort and aroused the curiosity of the observers present. Those from crash.net and GP One were therefore busy as their photos show. On the menu, a Ducati led by Michele Pirro with fairing wheels, a solution already touched upon last September in Misano and then further explored in Valencia. An option that monopolizes all the attention of the reds.
We will also note the return of fins at Yamaha, white this time, remembering that Ducati had started its work with these in order to adjust the settings for a motorcycle devoid of these appendages, now prohibited by the regulations.
More discreetly, Honda presented a longer side exhaust, a development that we assume was intended for a distribution of masses towards the rear in order to avoid “wheelies” which have returned to the forefront of concerns since the disappearance of the fins.
On the track, Casey Stoner experienced a technical problem whileHiroshi Aoyama for Honda, Mike di Meglio for Aprilia and Mika Kallio in the service of KTM did their series of tours. We will soon return to the technical results of these three days which showed a certain excitement among the engineers. All under the eyes of a Jorge Lorenzo to the noted presence in the Ducati box.
