This week, some Moto2 and Moto3 found themselves on the new track of the Red Bull Ring which will be the scene of the first Austrian Grand Prix since 1997. The two categories of the championship managed by Dorna thus imitated the MotoGP which had undergone their training discovered recently. A great initiative. Except that we only saw one brand of motorcycle in Moto3.

The atmosphere in the Grand Prix paddock is not always good. For the MotoGP, it will be remembered that the expedition for the Austrian tests was organized by Ducati, which invited the majority of its colleagues. With the notable exception of HRC.

Because if there were Moto3 tests, it was only done between KTM. A brand that had rented the Red Bull Ring route. The Mattighofen mark was the only one that turned. No Honda, and not the least Mahindra. Engine tests were carried out by Vazquez, all in a special atmosphere. Because while the KTMs were spinning, the others were champing at the bit. From the contacts we had, some spoke of a certain lack of fair play on the part of the Austrians…

The orange troops, for once, won the lemon prize. A new episode of a long series between KTM and Honda in Moto3. Any precedents? There are some. Here are some of them: in 2014, the fight rages between Alex Marquez Honda and Jack Miller KTM for the world title. KTM has engine problems and must manage its allocation but above all, its top Australian rider is ready for a big leap towards MotoGP with an HRC contract. Pete Beirer Commander-in-Chief of the Austrians doubts his foe and makes it known by pointing out a maneuver by Honda. At the end of this season, it's the brother of whom you know who will be titled.

Let's continue. In 2015, the championship went to the Honda by one Danny Kent domineering. The same Pete Beirer accuses Honda of cheating again. The person concerned then swears to have data from the recorders, revealing a legal exceeding of the Honda engine speed of 100 rpm. Or having driven in a straight line at 13.600 revolutions. A matter which will have no consequences.

The list is not exhaustive. And it could be extended with Moto2. Soon, we will tell you the story of a KTM which arrives in this category having learned a lot from the Kalex…
