Takaaki Nakagami would it be the surprise of the year? The Japanese, discreet throughout his career in Moto2, seems to reveal himself for his debut in MotoGP. Convincing during the return to Sepang, during three days of testing which he left with the status of best of the four beginners listed for this season, he did more than confirm Buriram. The Japanese leaves Thailand with a top 10 in cumulative times, including an eighth time on Sunday. Honestly not so bad!

A performance that the reigning Moto2 World Champion and also a beginner among the elite Franco Morbidelli watch from afar for the moment. It is clear that the new 26-year-old LCR driver learns quickly and well behind the wheel of a Honda that is known to be difficult to master:

« I am very happy with these three days, both from the point of view of the progress made with the bike and the relations with the team which are getting closer and closer. Finishing in the top 10 is definitely a good thing. But there is still work to do, and we will have to stay focused when we are in Qatar. We'll see what happens there. I hope we continue at this pace ».
