Ganemos Jerez, the branch of the Podemos party in the Andalusian city, has presented to the Jerez city council a proposal to end the role of women as objects during the Spanish Grand Prix which will take place from May 5-7. Understand banning overly friendly umbrella girls…

The Jerez City Council approved the decision and will urge Dorna to eliminate practices that use women's bodies as « adornment and advertising » for « capture the audience's attention » during the Grand Prix organized on the circuit.

The proposal was defended by Ganemos Jerez and garnered the favor of many feminist groups in the province of Cádiz.

In her speech, Ganemos Jerez City Councilor Kika González deplored the use of women as " advertisement sexual » which contribute to the dissemination of « hypersexualized image » associated with « a kind of beauty », also arguing, apart from the undignified side of the thing, that this could have consequences “for emotional and emotional health”…

What will Dorna do?

The Umbrella girls will probably not be banned (they are not in Qatar…) but it is likely that the promoter of the world championship will send an internal letter asking for measures to be maintained in this area.

Our photo gallery from last year doesn't really show any excess in this regard, with most of the Umbrella girls appearing there possibly being able to easily go to the office dressed like this.

We will compare it very soon with this year's to follow the evolution, hoping not to participate in the blood sausage festival in the land of paella: when will tango in overalls?
