Bradley Smith embarks on a new adventure which would have made people laugh in the world before but which turns out to be very serious in the world after. Indeed, the Grand Prix driver finds himself building a future in the developing world of… Electric scooters.

We are talking here about a world championship. It will begin in 2022 under the name eSkootr Championship, a project promoted by the FIM in collaboration with Dorna which seeks to take advantage of the commercial appeal of these two-wheelers to organize a championship attractive to the public. The eSkootr championship plans to host a minimum of six races for his first season. The machine chosen for this project is managed by Williams Advanced Engineering. Yes, it is indeed a subsidiary of the Formula 1 team Williams. The scooter is called S1-X, it is electrically powered, it weighs 35 kilos, has a battery with a capacity of 1,5 kWh and equips two electric motors on the two axles which produce a total final power of 16 ch. Enough to exceed the 100 km/h, all the same.

The organizers of this incredible championship relied on Bradley Smith to give it visibility, look for competitive drivers and take advantage of its experience on two wheels to improve the S1-X. “ My new role in the eSkootr championship will be that of talent scout, I will also help the drivers and be a tester », declares the pilot of 31 years about his new professional role.

« For me, the most important thing about this championship is that you give anyone a chance, I think it's something that's been lost ", Explain Smith. “ Motorcycling for example is for people who have money, and I think an e-scooter is something that most people can afford, and this championship gives everyone the opportunity to try it and from there to decide what to do ».

« Professional drivers are welcome of course, but we are also open to drivers who come from other disciplines and those who are novices.
