If Jorge Lorenzo achieved an extraordinary pole position on Saturday by breaking the Ricardo Tormo circuit record, Marc Marquez wanted to make it very clear this Sunday morning that Lorenzo was far from having won the race.
The temperature continued to rise during this morning, now with 13° for the air and 12° for the asphalt. Marc Marquez was the fastest at the start of the session with a time of 1'31.262, ahead of Jorge Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi, Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro, which gave us a Honda in front of 4 Yamahas. Then followed the two Suzukis and a flurry of Ducatis. Like the day before, Tito Rabat and Mika Kallio on the new KTM were competing for the penultimate position.
Marquez progressed in 1'31.095, then 0.3 ahead of Lorenzo and 0.4 ahead of Rossi. Loris Baz occupied an encouraging fourteenth position. Andrea Dovizioso climbed into third position on his Desmosedici, ahead of Espargaro Pol and behind Marquez and Vinales. The official Yamahas were slightly behind with Jorge Lorenzo sixth and Valentino Rossi seventh.
In the final minutes, Marc Marquez retained command, ahead of Vinales, Dovizioso, Pol Espargaro, Iannone, Rossi and Lorenzo.
