It was an unexpected trio that dominated the first free practice session of the last Grand Prix of the season in Valencia. Iannone was in fact leading ahead of Miller and the KTM of Pol Espargaro. For Joe the Maniac, it was an opportunity to recall that he had finished third on Ducati this meeting on the Ricardo Tormo track while since the introduction of the MotoGP category, Suzuki's only podium on this circuit consists of John Hopkins' third place in 2007. Meanwhile, Dovizioso and Marquez began their duel while at Yamaha, we were not leading... What about this afternoon?

Marc Marquez, as always, did not bother with preliminaries, pushed Mika Kallio and set the first benchmark by signing a beautifully crafted 1'31.578. Lorenzo followed but also Miller wheras'Alex Espargaro installed his Aprilia in the top 5. Meanwhile, Dovizioso, twelfth, was breaking out in a cold sweat, but the title contender for Ducati remained on his wheels.
The reigning World Champion and candidate for his succession then passed in 1'31.367 but was grilled by Dani Pedrosa in 1'31.346. zarco followed the two Hondas and still kept the Yamaha factory afloat, although half a second behind.
After the first quarter of an hour, Red was ninth and Vinales a pale seventeenth and Alex Espargaro took into account the hunt for the two official Hondas in place of John Zarco. It will be recalled that the official Aprilia is still convalescing while the Noale factory sees itself more than threatened in the manufacturers' championship by the debutant KTM...
A pursuit which was then the prerogative of Jorge Lorenzo which, in 1'31.436, was 90 thousandths behind the two leading RC213Vs. The last quarter of an hour was a source of concern for an official Yamaha team outside the top 10. Vinales was eighteenth and Rossi twelfth.
In 1'31.248, Marc Marquez took his place at the top of the hierarchy in sight of the checkered flag. This before returning to the pits, like his colleagues, to embark on the final sprint with a view to securing a place among the top ten. An exercise that Iannone missed when he fell in turn 10. Alex Espargaro also came at the worst time. A family affair since his brother Pol imitated him at turn 3!
Marc Marquez finally suffered his 26th fall of the season in turn 2. Finally, it was Lorenzo who finished in the lead in 1'30.640, ahead of Pedrosa et Dovizioso which preceded zarco and Marquez. Miller led the peloton which included a ninth Rossi while Vinales finished eleventh behind the KTM of Espargaro Pol...
