After hitting the headlines on Sunday for refusing to follow the orders of his Ducati team, Lorenzo rode the GP17 for two days, testing relatively few new features.

In its official communication, Ducati agreed with Lorenzo, saying that he had made the right decision on the bike during the GP, despite the team's orders. And Ducati could not react otherwise, Jorge having a two-year contract. To publicly disavow it would have completely ruined the atmosphere in the team during the 2018 season.

This obviously suited the Spaniard's business, who was thus given a fortiori the power of decision, as far as he was concerned, within the Italian team. He was very perky during these two days of testing.

He set the best time of the Ducati riders on Wednesday, with the fourth fastest time behind Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa and Johann Zarco.

Already holding the test record in Valencia since last year in 1'29.401 and the lap record in 1'31.171 on Yamaha, Jorge achieved the fourth fastest time in the race last Sunday in 1'31.810, before turning during these tests in 1'30.534.

According to Jorge Lorenzo, “During these tests we didn't really try anything new, but we gathered very useful information for the development of next year's bike.

“This Wednesday I felt really good, improving my performance on the bike by changing some things in my riding style, and I had good times.

“However, we must continue to work to find the tenths that we are still missing on certain tracks. We also tried the new Öhlins forks, but we know that the most important new features will only arrive at Sepang for the first test of 2018.”
