Yesterday, the Suzuki Ecstar team published a video showing the arrival of Joan Mir within the Japanese structure as well as his first laps during the post-Valencia Grand Prix test.

We transcribe the part concerning him here.

“The day after the end of the 2018 season, a young man went to the Suzuki team at the Valencia circuit in Spain.
He greets the whole team and seems satisfied with his private space as well as his new team outfit.
Her name is Joan Mir, the new rider of the Suzuki Ecstar team.
It is November 20, 2018. The official test is delayed because of the rain the day before, and many reporters are waiting in front of the Suzuki box.
They are here for Mir. While everyone is focused on him, he makes his debut as a MotoGP rider.
He dominated the Moto3 class in 2017, and after riding in Moto2, he joined Suzuki to become a factory rider at age 20.
Everyone recognizes his great potential.
The expression on his face after the test in Valencia reflects his optimism about MotoGP.
On the first day of the test it was only possible to drive in the afternoon due to the conditions.
Of all the drivers, Mir was the one who drove the most, with 59 laps, achieving a time of 1'32.787.
The team has have high expectations for him.”

Ken Kawauchi, Technical director : “Maybe it's because he's young, or because of his character, but he spent a lot of time racing. He also has perseverance. I think he is absolutely right to work hard to learn more about MotoGP. He's not a typical beginner. He drives very calmly and precisely, and we were all surprised. We look forward to seeing its future.”
