Loris Baz's start to the weekend at Barber in MotoAmerica was rather positive for a return to competition after a broken ankle. The end of it, however, was less so. The Frenchman was unlucky, which compromised his chances of achieving the hoped-for result in Race 3.

After satisfactory free practice at Barber Motorsports Park, which hosted the MotoAmerica paddock this weekend, Loris Baz took a good second position on the starting grid. A result that is all the more pleasing when you consider the broken ankle he suffered just a few weeks ago. Aiming for the podium during the weekend's races, the Frenchman didn't come far in Race 1 or Race 2.

While he had one last opportunity to get on the box in Race 3, Baz was caught by one of his competitors at the end of the race, which precipitated the interruption of the race. Fifth at the time of the incident, the Habs finished the event in eighteenth position.

A fact of the race as disappointing as it was surprising, since Manuel Segura, who hooked up with Loris Baz, was not on the same lap as the latter. At the time of the incident, the Suzuki rider had already been caught out by the Frenchman and was ranked outside the top-20.

“Caught by a driver who was a lap behind. They brought out the red flag, and I brought the bike back to the pits within the time limit imposed by the regulations but that did not prevent them from relegating me to eighteenth place” commented Baz on his social networks the day after the week -end of MotoAmerica in Alabama.
