Reigning MotoGP world champion, Marc Márquez appears once again, and more than ever, as the big favorite at the dawn of this 2018 season.

Through this video broadcast by Red Bull, the Spanish champion reveals to us some of the physical specificities of riding a competition motorcycle, as well as his musculature that is impressive to say the least...

Marc Márquez : “I started working with a trainer when I was just 11, focusing heavily on my flexibility. When you land in gravel, falling and rolling, this can save you from a number of injuries. The upper trunk is the most important. The abdomen as well because when you move from side to side while riding the motorcycle, you need to remain very stable.

Another part that requires a lot of work is the adductors, since this helps you grip the tank. You use your hips to steer the motorcycle. Apart from working on balance, you also work on reflexes. The bike may move two or three times differently when you take a corner and ultimately your body has to know how to react quickly. On a physical level, your legs work a lot because ultimately you're pushing with one while the other presses against the bike. Having quick reactions and good musculature allows you to react quickly and forcefully.

For the hands, we can work outside the gym, by riding motocross, which helps a lot to increase my reaction skills. You train motocross, and although it's on the same circuit, it changes completely between first thing in the morning and the last moments of the day. Potholes and ruts appear, it changes every lap and it makes improvisation a must. Being on the bike is what I like the most because I really have fun and it's the most complete training method. »
