On January 20, Marco Simoncelli would have been 32 years old. To celebrate and commemorate the driver who died during the Malaysian GP on October 23, 2011, the Foundation that bears his name inaugurated yesterday, on his birthday, the “ Marco Simoncelli House“, a structure available for families of disabled children, in Coriano.  

Just before, Marco's dad spoke in a video that was inevitably very emotionally charged and that we are happy to translate.

Paolo Simoncelli: “I'm mad at God because... sometimes I wonder what the hell he's doing. He should be a little more attentive, in my opinion. My wife always says that if he had been a builder, that day he would have fallen off the scaffolding. It's something that's not fair, it's an injustice

It was his life, he was happy, and that's more than enough for us. In young boys, he left this desire he had to pursue a goal, a dream. He was a normal guy, a guy who spoke his mind.

I'm not an amazing person, I'm just a desperate father.

This is the work that the Foundation, that me, Mum and Kate did, we wanted at all costs. It is the result of five years of work. It is a center dedicated to young people with disabilities. I wanted to inaugurate it for Marco's birthday. I hope this can perhaps help these young people to make them happier for a moment.

The Foundation was born just after October 23 (2011). I had to because we were really overwhelmed with donations. So, we got to work.

I think it's the most unfair thing in the world, in that children should never die before their parents. It's something unnatural.

By helping these young people, these disabled people who are there, ultimately, Rossella and I sometimes say to ourselves that we were lucky, because... to see these parents with disabled children, perhaps from birth, who are take care of them and pamper them, I think they are the real heroes of life, and they are incredible people. Not us " .
