When James Ellison's bike suddenly broke down during the final weekend of British Superbike, Leon Haslam, who was following him, was unable to do anything to avoid it and hit the rear of the Yamaha.

The impact was violent, but fortunately neither pilot was injured. “ After the bridge, the motorcycle stopped. I was absolutely flat out when Leon hit me because the engine completely stopped, Ellison said. I didn't want to brake or disengage because I knew he was right behind me. Everything happened so quickly. I ran over to see how he was and luckily he was fine, just a little shaken. I apologized to him and explained what had happened. »
According to Haslam, “ We had a big, big crash with James Ellison's bike cutting at about 250 mph right in front of me and I went over the handlebars. Fortunately, I'm OK, but very disappointed because we had the fastest lap of the race and we were back on the leader ».
