The LCR boss has not forgotten his years spent in GP as a driver, battling with others who are still in the paddock, such as Aspar Martinez, Fausto Gresini and Emilio Alzamora, with whom he shared the grid in 125 cm3. 

Lucio, twice fourth in the 125 World Championship in 2001 and 2002, has since successfully converted himself into a team owner. He had already set up his own team when he was racing in 1996, before welcoming Noboru Ueda, Alex De Angelis, Casey Stoner, David Checa, Randy De Puniet, Mattia Pasini, Carlos Checa, Toni Elias, Stefan Bradl and now Cal Crutchlow.

As a driver, Lucio has won 6 Grands Prix, all in 125s. As a team owner, he has a total of 21 victories and 73 podiums.

More recently, Lucio commissioned a CBR1000RR inspired by the MotoGP RC213V. It is with this machine that Cecchinello has just driven on the Cremona circuit, near the Italian town of the same name between Milan and Parma, in Lombardy, in the Po plain region, in northern Italy. Congratulations again for getting into his leather which dates from 14 years ago.
