The World Supersport Championship (WorldSSP) meeting at Misano began with a surprise, with the Superpole. Held on the Marco Simoncelli circuit in the summer heat, rookie Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) shone by securing his first-ever pole position in the category, relegating his rivals to the hunt for the fastest time.

Jaume Masia set the fastest lap of the session in 1'37.119, securing his first WorldSSP pole position and his first world pole position since the 3 Moto2023 Malaysian Grand Prix. The young Spaniard took the lead midway through the session and was able to withstand the pressure, particularly thanks to his mastery of the third sector of the track.

On the front row, Masia is joined by Mattia Casadei (Motozoo ME Air Racing), who takes his first front row, in his first Superpole since his return to the WorldSSP grid. Bo Bendsneyder (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) returns to the top-3 for the first time since Assen.

Superpole wasn't easy for some riders. Championship leader Stefano Manzi (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) crashed mid-session at Turn 16, en route to setting his fastest lap of the session. This mistake relegated him to tenth place, just 0,014 seconds off the third row.

Several other riders also had off-track accidents, including Roberto Garcia (GMT94-YAMAHA) at Turn 8, Luke Power (Motozoo ME Air Racing) at Turn 14, Aldi Mahendra (Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team) at Turn 16, and Lucas Mahias (GMT94-YAMAHA) at Turn 15, all without serious injuries.

Marcel Schroetter (WRP Racing) missed the front row by just four hundredths of a second, while Can Oncu (Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team) emerged as the best Yamaha rider in the field, taking the second row in fifth position.

Valentin Debise (Renzi Corse) righted the ship at the end of the session for the French team, taking sixth place after languishing at the back of the standings for a long time. Lucas Mahias finished only 15th on the grid.

Jaume Masia will attempt to defend this pole position for the first time tomorrow, during Race 1, which will start at 12:35 p.m.
