Since his arrival in the Supersport World Championship, the GMT94, FFM, and Yamaha France offer each year to a French driver the opportunity to participate as a Wild Card in the World Championship event which takes place in September at Magny-Cours.
For 2025, this wild card will be awarded to the first Yamaha rider (old generation) equipped with Pirelli tires in the French Supersport FSBK Championship. The selection date will be announced during the season. The desire to associate Pirelli, official supplier of the SBK World Championship, will reinforce the objective of preparing the winner of the wild card to be competitive on D-Day.
Please note that the French Motorcycling Federation will take charge of registering a second wild card for the first rider in the FSBK ranking (excluding Yamaha) who wishes to enter Magny-Cours with the team of his choice.
Christophe Guyot, Team manager GMT94: "Our commitment to world speed has always aimed to open the door to French riders. The FFM has joined forces from the beginning to support a project that rewards sporting performance. Several French riders have thus had access to their dream of racing full-time in the World Cup. Thank you to the FFM, Yamaha France, Mutuelle des Motards, Pirelli and all the partners of GMT94 for helping to give hope and a future to French youth."
Sébastien Poirier, President of the FFM: "Thanks in large part to the "Wild Card" project that the FFM initiated upon the arrival of GMT94 in the World Supersport Championship, France will be able to boast of presenting 4 permanent riders in 2025. A fifth French rider will be welcomed within GMT94 at Magny-Cours. This wild card policy is a success and allows us to make the link between our French Championship and the World Superbike."
Gregory Lejosne, General Manager Yamaha France: "A long-standing partner of the FFM, the "Wild Card" project offers the opportunity for the best French Yamaha representative in FSSP to join the GMT94 structure for the World Championship round at Magny-Cours. Thanks to Christophe Guyot and the FFM for continuing to make our riders dream but also and above all for revealing the talents of today and tomorrow. This shared ambition with Yamaha also motivated the strengthening of our commitment in 2025 with the creation of the "Yamaha Challenge 700" within the framework of the FSBK."
