The Yamaha team has decided to trust its two riders again for the 2019 season in order to continue with what they are both achieving this season.

Michael van der Mark and Alex Lowes will therefore meet again next year within the Yamaha team in the Superbike World Championship. It must be said that they are both having their best season, as did not fail to point out Eric de Seynes, the president of Yamaha Motor Europe NV: “We are delighted to continue our cooperation with Alex and Michael for the 2019 WorldSBK season. So far they have done a fantastic job for Yamaha in the FIM Superbike World Championship and the 2018 season has been our best year since our back in 2016, with three victories and 10 podiums halfway through the season. And obviously, Alex and Michael played an important role in this success. We are confident for the upcoming season and are working towards achieving our ultimate goal: the FIM Superbike World Championship title for Yamaha. »

On the one hand, Michael van der Mark reached the podium five times this year and also took the first victory of his career in the first race at Donington. He achieved a double by also winning the second. He currently occupies third place in the Championship and will complete his third season with Yamaha next year: “I am really happy to have signed for a third season with Yamaha. I believe in this project and Yamaha trusts me as a rider. As we continue to work to progress, it is clear that we have already made significant progress, as proof of which we are fighting for victory and the podium every weekend. I look forward to continuing our momentum and working towards our main goal of fighting together for the title. »

On the other side, Alex Lowes also won the first victory of his career this year, in Brno. He also reached the podium two other times and achieved a pole position. He ranks sixth in the Championship: “I am really happy to continue being part of the Yamaha project. Since I arrived in 2016, we have had our ups and downs together but we are truly on an upward trajectory now. I believe enormously in this project and my ambition has always been to aim for the title. I don't think it's unachievable given the progress we've made. I have never enjoyed riding as much as since I joined this team and I will continue to give the best of myself. »
