About Matthew Bellan de Motoracing

Loris Baz will face its eighth season in the Superbike World Championship in 2023 and does it again with the Bonovo Action BMW team. He will ride the new M 1000 RR and hopes to improve on last year's results. 2022 saw him score a total of 125 points and finish twelfth in the general classification. He amassed a total of twenty top 10 finishes, while he retired four times and finished without scoring points six times. The experienced French driver wants more in the next championship.

Running another season with the same team is definitely a positive factor, stability is important. Baz found himself well in the Bonovo Action team, which receives technical treatment from BMW very similar to that of the official line-up. The conditions for a good year in 2023 seem to be met.

The new M 1000 RR should have greater potential than the previous version, but obviously it will be essential to do a good development job to extract everything quickly. The Frenchman's experience can be important in this sense. The Super Concessions in the regulations will also come in handy again, which can help BMW (and also Honda) close the gap to the top of the class.

The BMW now has enough engine power

Loris Baz: “ we need electronics and chassis modifications«

The tricolor got a taste of the new M 1000 RR in December during a rain test in Jerez. He cannot yet have a clear picture of the new bike, but he has a first idea of the new features and he is optimistic: “ the new fairing changes the balance of the motorcycle – he told Speedweek – and this will help us a little. I don't expect to get on the bike and have all the problems fixed right away, but I hope we can sort them out soon. The main ones are the lack of grip at the rear and not being able to transfer power to the ground when exiting corners. We need modifications to the electronics and chassis to give us more confidence ».

The driver born in 1993 is aware of his needs in relation to 2022 and hopes that the new BMW will allow him to be more competitive. The next tests to Jerez (January 25-26) and Portimao (January 31-February 1) will be essential in preparing for the first round at Phillip Island, where the final pre-season test will also take place on February 20-21.

In 2023, the Frenchman welcomes a new teammate into the box in the person of Garrett gerloff. The former GRT Yamaha rider has a great desire for redemption and the two will surely stimulate each other. It will be a good duel at Bonovo Action. BMW will monitor and support them as appropriate. Both riders have contracts that expire at the end of the year and will give everything to be on the grid also in 2024, the year in which the much talked about weight limit between rider and bike is also expected to come into effect. force. A theme of great interest Loris Baz, large and heavy.
