Jonathan Rhea

Jonathan Rea has barely got off his Kawasaki when he is already dressed in Yamaha lights, the firm with which he will continue his brilliant career in World Superbike, succeeding Toprak Razgatlioglu. We will not see the latter on his new BMW before the beginning of December since those responsible for the Iwata firm in the category did not authorize him to climb on the M1000RR before the end of his contract. But Kawasaki will let its Northern Irishman discover the R1 in the first tests of the off-season which will begin in Jerez.

The six-time Superbike world champion Jonathan Rea entered the Pata Yamaha Prometeon box for the first time World SBK to meet her Yamaha R1 WorldSBK n°65, with a special livery made of grey, white and carbon. A transitional dress that hints at some of the historic colors of Yamaha .

Jonathan Rea: “ I immediately felt so much love and support »

« It was an incredible first day and it was so surreal to wear my Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK polo shirt – the feeling in blue is really nice – and when I entered the box, everyone was so excited... » comments one Sale visibly happy. “ I immediately felt so much love and support: the attention to detail in the team is incredible. Even in my cockpit, which already had custom logos, down to the perfect fit on the bike, the attention to detail in this process was incredible ».

He adds : " I can't wait to do my first laps on the R1. It's a bike that I've seen up close on the track but never had the chance to ride, so the main idea is to be comfortable on the bike, to understand my team, that they understand me to learn and have a positive result. We'll have plenty of time between now and the start of the season at Phillip Island, but first impressions are always important and today was really good ". He finishes : « I'm really excited to start and I want to thank everyone, Crescent Racing, Yamaha Motor Europe and all the sponsors for this opportunity because I think it will be a great partnership and I look forward toe ”.
