Jonathan Rea, newly arrived at Yamaha in World Superbike, and his boss on the ground Andrea Dosoli had high hopes for the Misano round, marking the resumption of the championship after a seven-week hiatus. Promising tests carried out on this circuit before the race had boosted his confidence. Unfortunately, expectations were not met, plunging Yamaha into suspense.
