In this new stage of the WSBK championship in Aragon, the Ducati official and main challenger to Jonathan Rea got down on one knee. Literally as figuratively. The Englishman, non-conformist, strong guy and boxer in his spare time, collapsed when returning to his box while the race continued without him. He had indeed just fallen, letting precious points slip away from Kawasaki factory rider Jonathan Rea who does not need as many to collect a world title. We're certainly not there yet, but the Northern Irishman is now 30 steps ahead...

The most annoying for Scott Redding, it's just one Ducati largely dominated the debates in this first race of the second meeting of the category in Aragon. Rinaldi superbly showed the way forward by securing his first victory in the category. Meanwhile, the second Panigale V4R of Davies could not do better than third. This sandwich ducati was blessed bread for Jonathan Rhea.

After his fall, the former MotoGP rider and reigning BSB champion returned to his box. Where he couldn't hold back his tears. “ This doesn't happen often." commented the solid Englishman. « I am passionate and I really think I can win this title, but today I lost points ».

He tries to explain what happened to him: “ I don't know, it was something a little out of my control. I had trouble getting the front tire to work the entire distance of the race. We improved the bike, but we continued to struggle in that direction. In the three laps before my crash, in the first, fifth, tenth and final corners, the front tire simply slipped ».

« I didn't expect to crash at turn 4, it was a good point, I had never had any problems and I was very surprised. The tire pushed me back and I couldn't do anything, it was a shame »Comments Redding.

« It's a strange situation and not ideal for me, because I can't express myself as much as possible. The most frustrating thing was to see Rinaldi as if he was on a trip with friends, his performance was excellent, he won with a big advantage over everyone. Let's be clear, I'm very happy for him that he won his first race, but I'm on the same bike and I couldn't stay close to him. I gave everything, the same with my team, but it didn't work ". And yet, he is in the official team…

“I need the team to give me a bike that allows me to win”

So, he gets a little annoyed: “ I'm not in a position where I have to think about whether to keep pushing to try to catch Rea or settle for 4th place. If you want to win the championship you can't be satisfied with that and unfortunately I fell. It's frustrating"

« I want to win the title, I don't care if it's my first season in WSBK. We will now go to Magny Cours, Barcelona, Estoril, there are 11 races left. The problem is that the driver from whom I have to recover points is very consistent and very intelligent. I can't lose points, I always have to put pressure on him. Now he has some edge and that's not ideal for me. I could decide to forget about the championship and just think about winning races, but I don't want to do that.".

And he ends: “ I need the team to give me a bike that allows me to win, if I have it, I can win in all circuits and even in the championship, if there are no problems. What will happen will happen, I won't give up now, even I'm at 30 points, that's a lot, otherwise I would stay home ". Tomorrow Sunday, Scott Redding will have two races to regain health and morale…
