World Superbike Champion Alvaro Bautista once again showed top-class performance at the Aragon Superbike event, echoing his successes of the last two years. In the Superpole race, Bautista took calculated risks to outscore his rivals Nicolo Bulega and Toprak Razgatlioglu. He then confirmed his dominance by winning the second main race, ending a 126-day winless streak and securing his 62nd and 63rd career victories.
« I was fast in the Superpole race" , said Baptist meeting the media after the race. I saw that Toprak had passed Nicolo, and I wasn't sure Bulega could fight for the win. I had two options: stay behind them or try to win. I decided to attack, and it worked, I was able to overtake Toprak before the long straight. It was an incredible moment"
During the second race, Baptist has once again demonstrated his talent by maintaining a sustained pace despite the constant pressure of Razgatlioglu : " I was getting faster and faster, but Toprak was still at +0. I made faster and faster laps, but he was there, like my shadowIt was only in the last few laps that I managed to take the lead. I was on the limit throughout the race, but my performance was perfect, a 10 out of 10.. »
Alvaro Bautista: “ I am back with the same strength and confidence »
Baptist also mentioned that he had regained confidence in his bike, after several months of difficulties: " We changed a few things on the bike after Most, and since then I feel better and better. I am happy, not only to have won, but also to have found the sensations I had last year. Now I am back with the same strength and confidence. »
The pilot of Ducati acknowledges that his difficult years at Honda taught him patience, a quality that helped him get through this winless period: " It was hard, but I always knew something was holding me back. Now, we found what was wrong, and i feel competitive again. Staying calm in these moments is never easy, but I have learned from my mistakes and I am ready to move forward"
Baptist looks set to continue this momentum in the coming races, with the aim of further reducing the gap to his rivals in the world championship. WSBK.
