Many riders are currently available to speak with fans via video, and this has just been the case for the official Ducati rider in the World Superbike Championship Chaz Davies, from Wales where he comes from. His recent interview took place on WorldSBK Instagram.

Being locked up at home is for the 2011 Supersport World Champion – on Yamaha R6, two years later Cal Crutchlow and two years before Sam Lowes with the same motorcycle – an unusual situation.

“It’s very strange for us pilots. We are still on the road and now we find ourselves locked down because of this virus. I hope everything goes well, although I always try to find opportunities in any situation. I actually set up a gym at home to try to work out and stay in shape. »

There are also questions about Superbikes and Ducati in particular, for whom Chaz raced for many years with the Panigale V2, hence a not necessarily obvious discovery of the 4-cylinder V.

“Compared to the V2, the V4 is an extreme racing motorcycle. The first time I got on this bike, I understood that I had to change my habits, since the four-cylinder is different from the two-cylinder. »

Attention then turned to the circuits: “Laguna Seca is undoubtedly my favorite route. It's a fantastic circuit. Donington is also a very nice track, but in this case you have to ask Sykes for advice because he is very strong there. »

Davies then mentions the BMW standard-bearer, to whom he would like to make a proposition: “I'm practicing a lot on the drums these days and I have to say I'd love to start a band in the paddock. I know Laverty plays guitar, while Sykes might sing. »

Finally, there is also an interesting perspective on drivers past and present: “In my opinion, Razgatlioglu is a very strong driver and he showed it, emphasized Davies. In Australia he managed to win the first race. My idols ? I always liked Doohan, Fogarty, but also Rossi. I would have loved to run alongside Barry Sheene, among many others. »
