Danilo Petrucci has had an unusual career, competing at the world level in numerous championships, without ever achieving the holy grail of victory. At nearly 35 years old, he continues to believe in this dream, which has driven him to perform for all these years.
Danilo Petrucci first went through the Superstock 600 then 1000 de 2007 to 2011, where his title of vice-Champion allowed him to secure his place in MotoGP. Arrived in the CRT category with the Ioda Racing team in 2012, he managed to regularly enter the points, despite injuries which caused him to miss several races. He then signed with Pramac, which he joined from 2015He won his first podium and progressed until he came close to victory on several occasions.
He arrives in the team Ducati official in 2019 and won his first MotoGP victory, followed by a second the following year. He is having the best seasons of his career, before going to Tech3 en 2021, then leave MotoGP at the end of the season. He decides to participate in the Dakar beginning 2022, and became the first rider to move up to the premier class to win a stage victory. He then went to the United States to participate in the MotoAmerica, where he comes very close to the coronation.
With his vice-champion title in his pocket, he arrives at the World Championship Superbike en 2023 and finished his first season in seventh place, before finishing in the top 5 in 2024 thanks, in particular, to a hat-trick of victories in Cremona. This year, he is once again entered in the category.
If all these championships have given him a great deal of experience on the track, with motorcycles and with categories, Danilo Petrucci He acknowledges that despite the victories and podiums, he still doesn't feel fully accomplished and has reached where he wanted to be, namely to be crowned World Champion. Despite the passing of time, he continues to hope to be able to achieve this ultimate career goal.
"My parents and I never said we had succeeded, because when you have succeeded, it means you have arrived [where you wanted]. I still have a kind of restlessness that makes me feel like I haven't arrived yet.", he said in the Italian podcast The Merenda. "I could have stopped running several years ago, I tried getting drunk for a few days and then I said no [laughs]. I always dreamed of being World Champion and I wasn't. It's something I would like, but it would be more to feel accomplished, and that's not the case yet, I don't feel like that."
