Toprak Razgatlioglu

The moment of truth has almost arrived for Toprak Razgatlioglu. This weekend, at the penultimate round of the season in Estoril, the Turkish rider has the opportunity to become, for the second time, World Superbike Champion. Leading the championship with a 39-point lead over Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Ducati) and 81 over Alvaro Bautista, Razgatlioglu could win the title even before the final round.

To secure the championship, Razgatlioglu must win 23 points more than Bulega this weekend, while maintaining its lead over Baptist. In this case, the title will be his even before the last round. However, even if Toprak wins all three races, he does not have complete control over his destiny, because the performances of his competitors will play a decisive role.

Baptist, although in third position, has not given up the fight to defend his title. The Spaniard must fill 20-point lead over Razgatlioglu to stay in contention. However, given the impressive season of Razgatlioglu, this task seems difficult for Baptist.

Toprak Razgatlioglu's coronation would also be a historic moment for BMW

In fourth position, Danilo Petrucci, despite his recent wins in Cremona, is now out of the title race, leaving the top three to battle it out for the crown. Petrucci, however, remains on track to win the independent drivers' title.

The competition is also shaping up to be tight further down the rankings. The battle for sixth place is between Andrea Locatelli, Michael van der Mark, and Andrea Iannone promises to captivate fans, while Honda continues its progression with Iker Lecuona et Xavi Verge in search of the top ten. Dominique Aegerter, for his part, is hoping for a return from injury to participate in the end of the season.

The race in Estoril will be crucial for Toprak Razgatlioglu, who could write a new page in his career and enter a little more into the legend of Superbike. The eyes of the world will be turned towards the BMW struck 54 this weekend, as he attempts to win a new world crown, which would be the first in this competition for the Bavarian firm.
