Remy gardner

Remy Gardner was forced to leave the world of Grands Prix in conditions such that he retained a certain resentment towards the industry, and towards a brand in particular. However, after his resounding failure in a MotoGP where he only had a few months to succeed – which amounts to an almost impossible mission, even for a reigning Moto2 World Champion – the Australian had the opportunity to sign a good Yamaha contract for a new adventure in WSBK which can relaunch his career. He will have everything to discover, from discipline to motorcycles and tires. But he already knows in which area he will feel better than before, and that is the atmosphere in the paddock…

Certainly, even from this point of view, Remy gardner isn't sure what he'll find, but he knows what he just left. And in his mind, it couldn't be worse. In an exclusive interview with speedweek, he also lets his frank and direct nature speak when the question of the Grand Prix environment comes to the table. He responds like this, with words that do not allow for ambiguity: “ I hate all political bullshit, but unfortunately it's part of the race. I did it for a few years, it's part of the job » he regrets.

Remy Gardner: “ I want to ride my bike, have fun with my team, win a few races and go home«

His aspirations couldn’t be simpler: “ I want to ride my bike, have fun with my team, win a few races and go home. Unfortunately, in the GP paddock it is not so easy » assures the Australian who, 24 only years old, has all the trappings of a World Superbike rookie despite his track record mentioning a Moto2 world title in 2021.

A priori, Remy gardner should feel more at ease in a WSBK environment generally considered more familiar than the MotoGP paddock, with a more open approach. A difference that the Australian is eager to verify and validate: “ I'm looking forward to the Superbike Paddock, everyone says how friendly and informal it is there », mentions the one who, like Dominique Aegerter, will pilot a Yamaha R1 factory in the Giansanti Racing team in 2023. “ I hope it will be cool he concludes.

Remy gardner will have the opportunity to experience a taste of this environment this week in Jerez where all the wonderful people of WSBK will meet for tests of the January 24 to 26. The sky should be mild with a temperature around 14°. This should therefore be the first dry track experience of Remy gardner with the Yamaha R1, and it is also a highly anticipated moment.
