While the MotoGP team is not yet complete for 2021, with the pending signing ofAndrea Dovizioso, the official Ducati team in the Superbike World Championship is not designated either, nor the Barni satellite team. Time is passing, and Chaz Davies would like to have some certainty about his future.

Alongside Scott Redding in WSBK, there is insistent talk in Bologna of Danilo Petrucci. But Petrux would like to stay in MotoGP, and he can still hope given that there are still a few places available. A good opportunity at Aprilia would not, for example, be overlooked, the bike having clearly progressed and Andrea Iannone's situation not yet being completely defined.

“We haven't really touched on the conversation about the future, not yet, not seriously anyway. Everyone is talking about “how to get out of the coronavirus and how to manage the situation from this year”, but at the same time, we also open the conversation for 2021,” said Davies, who is expected to become a father any day now.

“I really want to make sure I get a second chance, an honest go with this Panigale V4 R. We could have quite a few close races together this year and that will add a bit of pressure” declared the Welshman Bikesportnews.

“Close races are always more demanding, physically and mentally. It's the same for everyone, so we're just going to be stuck. »

“This is my second season on the V4 and, for me, it's a chance to continue what we did last year, which was obviously turbulent. From the middle to the end of the season we had a lot of good races and got on the podium. »

In 2019, Chaz won just one race, at Laguna Seca, achieved a pole position and reached the podium ten times, which allowed him to finish sixth in the Championship. It was his worst year, in terms of number of victories, since 2014.

“It's no secret that the start of last year was difficult but, in the end, we still won a race last season, and we finished on the podium on numerous occasions. »

“I think it's quite easy to overlook these results when Álvaro has had such a good start to the year. It's easy to not see that I beat him mid to late last year. »

Chaz achieved the Supersport World Champion title with Yamaha in 2011, having competed in 28 races in this category. He has won 30 of his 216 World Superbike events. He also participated in Grand Prix in 15 races in 125 cm3, 55 in 250 and 3 in MotoGP (in 2007 at Pramac d'Antin Ducati replacing the injured Alex Hofmann).

He also raced in the United States in AMA Supersport and Formula X-Treme on a Yamaha for the Celtic Racing team, then in 2008 on a Kawasaki for Attack Kawasaki. He won the Daytona 2008 in 200, before riding in 2009 for KWS Aprilia.

He then participated in the World Supersport in 2009 and 2010 on Triumph, then in 2011 on Yamaha, and finally in World Superbike in 2012 on Aprilia, 2103 on BMW, and always on Ducati since 2014 inclusive.
