The accident occurred during the second practice session on Friday afternoon. The Yamaha of Loris Baz rolled over several times in a gravel trap after a fall. She was thrown high into the air and was badly damaged. The 2nd day was therefore over for the Frenchman, who remained unscathed. He finished in 13th place, 1.427 seconds behind the best timeAlvaro Bautista (Aruba Ducati).
« The motorcycle is destroyed » said the team manager, Kervin Bos, at Speedweek. “ Our spare parts are limited, but Loris can use the second motorcycle. We were testing the different tire options when the accident happened. We obviously made the wrong choice, we need to check this. We can no longer use this motorcycle. The fall wasn't special, but the gravel trap arrived ».
For Ten Kate, Jerez is the first race with Yamaha, following their split with Honda last fall.
