The 2R Racing Kawasaki team from Ravenna, Italy, for which Victor Nunez and Alessandro Zanca were initially scheduled to start the Supersport 300 World Championship, has been excluded. The team members were caught Thursday evening sitting together, without masks and inviting people from friendly teams to eat. Anything that is strictly prohibited according to the regulations in force. They were immediately banned from the World Championship with immediate effect and for the remainder of the year.

If the drivers are part of another team, they may be there again from the next event in Portimão, with the measures being exclusively directed against the team.

While the Superbike and Supersport categories riders had already raced this year at Phillip Island, those in the SSP300 class were making their debut at the Jerez – Ángel Nieto Circuit. The workforce was divided into two groups A and B.

New rules are in effect for 2020: The first 30 in free practice (and no longer in the Superpole as was the case in 2019) will participate directly in the Superpole, then in the race. The other drivers will then compete in the last chance race, which will take place after the Superpole session. The first six in the last chance race will join the first thirty.

During the first free practice session of Group A, the Spaniard Unai Orradre (Yamaha MS Racing) took the lead in 1'53.960. He preceded the German Jan-Ole Jahnig and the Italian Bruno Ieraci.

Under the checkered flag, the best time was to the credit of Mika Perez (Kawasaki Prodina Ircos Team) in 1'53.609, ahead of Unai Orradre and Bruno Ieraci.

Johan Gimbert (Kawasaki GP Project) was seventh, 1'022 behind the leader, Samuel di Sora (Kawasaki Leader Team Flembbo) eleventh, Gaetan Matern (Yamaha Machado CAME SBK) twenty-first and Loris Gruau twenty-sixth.
