This weekend, the WSBK resumes the march of its season near Assen with a situation in the championship which suggests a good battle. Indeed, the captain for six seasons Jonathan Rea is undermined with his Kawasaki by Toprak Razgatlioglu who has been leading the championship since the last meeting at Donington. For only two points, but two points nonetheless, he leads the debates within a Yamaha factory so convincing that it manages to dissuade its riders from going to see its brothers in arms in MotoGP. Exactly, on this subject…

The atmosphere will be special this weekend at Assen for a round of WSBK marked by two events. On the one hand, there is the fact of seeing a Jonathan Rea six-time world champion second Razgatlioglu in the general classification, and, on the other hand, there are the rumors coming from MotoGP which are shaking up the paddock.

But before causing the general atmosphere, the pilot Kawasaki made a point of reminding us that he had a job to do in the Netherlands: “ we can only focus on our strengths » he says because he recognizes the value of the adversary: “ I think we can be fast in the dry, in the wet or whatever. Obviously, Toprak is proving to be really strong with his team ».

He adds on the website of WSBK about the men of Yamaha , which took precedence over those of Ducati as a challenger: “ they do an excellent job, manage the season well, so I will continue to work on myself. It's a long season and we've done four races. I feel like I'm halfway there. We are not yet a third of the way through the championship, so there is still a lot to do ».

Thus, the two drivers of the brand in WSBK who are Razgatlioglu et gerloff preferred to sign a contract retaining them in their current position rather than attempt the Grand Prix adventure behind the wheel of a good M1. The kind of plan that until then we thought was the great opportunity not to be missed in a pilot's career. And yet…

« I read it too and was just as surprised. » declared one Sale who, by the way, and despite the idea of a “lifetime” contract with Kawasaki which could go beyond a racing career, is also cited as a potential candidate to ride the Yamaha Petronas in Grand Prix… “ I absolutely don't want to talk about it in the middle of the race weekend. » he replied about this prospect. With this position,  Jonathan Rea therefore does not give the impression of closing the door, on the contrary of Razgatliogu and gerloff who were clearer in their choice…
