Like every year, the regulations for the Superbike World Championship adapt the maximum engine speeds to the performances of the different motorcycles in an attempt to equalize the field. This may be modified during the season.

To start the 2020 season, the initial speed limits (rpm*) will be as follows:

The 1000 Honda CBR2020RR-R (SP) Fireblade with its all-new engine has a limit based on the maximum revs of the homologated production machine.
The 1 Yamaha YZF-R2020 (M), with its engine progressively revised for EU4 legislation, has a rev limit based on the performance balancing algorithm after the 2019 season.
