The Spaniard gives Ducati its 1000th podium, Baldassarri dominates in WorldSSP from pole position, and Garcia takes his third victory of the season in WorldSSP300.

FOCUS ON THE SUPERPOLIS

World SBK
New lap record and pole position for Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) at Most. At the rear, all drivers used the SCX compound which was chosen instead of SCQ here at Most due to the particular characteristics of this track which make it particularly aggressive on the tires. The Northern Irishman set a time of 1'30.947 using the standard SCX at the rear and the SC1 development solution (A0843 spec) at the front. Behind him, Toprak Razgatlioğlu (Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK), also on the SCX at the rear, but with the standard SC1 at the front. Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) completes the front row with the same compounds used by the Turkish rider. Fourth place went to the other Ducati rider, Álvaro Bautista.

WorldSSP
In Superpole, the drivers used the SC0 at the rear and the SC1 at the front, two standard solutions. Rookie Lorenzo Baldassarri (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team) won Superpole, also setting the new lap record with a time of 1'34.952. This is the second pole in WorldSSP for the Italian driver. Alongside him on the front row, two other Italians: Federico Caricasulo (Althea Racing) and Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team). The reigning world champion, the Swiss Dominique Aegerter (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha), will start from fourth position.

WorldSSP300
Italian rider Kevin Sabatucci, riding his Kawasaki Ninja 400 from the GP Project team, took the first pole position of his career with a time of 1'47.921. The Marche native improved his performance gradually throughout the free practice sessions, going from eighth place in FP1 to sixth in FP2, then finishing fastest in qualifying. The first row is completed by the Brazilian Humberto Maier (AD78 Team Brasil by MS Racing) and the Spaniard Alex Millan (SMW Racing).

TIRES IN ACTION IN RACE 1

World SBK (asphalt: 26°C / air: 19°C)
After his double at Misano, Álvaro Bautista returned to victory and gave Ducati its 1000th podium. Starting from pole position was not enough for Jonathan Rea, who set the new lap record trying to stay ahead of the Spaniard who, starting from fourth place on the grid, never lost contact with the leading group to finally take the lead himself on the tenth lap and keep it until the checkered flag. However, the race continued to be quite lively even for the other steps of the podium, completed by Toprak Razgatlioğlu, second, and Scott Redding (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team), third after a spectacular duel with Jonathan Rea, who finished fourth. No less than 22 of the 25 drivers on the grid chose to race on the new B0624 SC0 development tire, with Scott Redding the only driver in the top 10 to use the standard SC0 on the rear. The choices are more varied up front, where the SC1 development tire in A0843 specification was chosen by almost half of the drivers on the grid.

WorldSSP (asphalt: 29°C / air: 19°C)
For the first of the weekend's two races, the Supersport drivers made a unanimous choice in terms of tires: standard soft SC1 solution at the front and standard soft SC0 solution at the rear. It was a memorable day for Lorenzo Baldassarri who, after taking pole position, also won in Race 1, breaking Dominique Aegerter's (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) streak of dominance. Behind him, VR46 Riders Academy rider Stefano Manzi (Dynavolt Triumph), after an incredible comeback from 21st place on the grid, and South African Steven Odendaal (Kallio Racing).

WorldSSP300 (asphalt: 23°C / air: 18°C)
The rain that fell just before the start created some indecision among the drivers regarding the choice of tires. The top 10 on the grid all started on slicks, while there were various combinations at the rear with slicks at the front and wet tires at the rear or vice versa. Despite the pole position and first row achieved by Kevin Sabatucci and Alex Millan respectively, it was an unlucky race for both drivers who never reached the finish line. The race was won by 2017 champion Marc Garcia (Yamaha MS Racing), who started from eleventh place on the grid. Behind him, we find Frenchman Hugo De Cancellis (Prodina Racing WorldSSP300), second, and Alvaro Diaz (Arco Motor University Team), third.

Mark Garcia

George Barbier, Director of the motorcycle competition: “ Pirelli is resolutely satisfied with the events of this first day of racing at Most and the choices made in terms of tire allocation. By Friday, the drivers were already extremely fast and, during FP2, Razgatlioglu, using the new rear SC0, broke last year's track lap record which, however, was achieved with the softer SCX . Then, precisely with the SCX, Rea was 7 tenths faster than his own track record from 2021, which he had achieved with the SCQ. Therefore, the decision to replace the SCQ with the SCX for this race paid off in the end and it was certainly not a limitation in terms of performance. We are equally pleased with the immediate popularity of the SC0 rear development tire. From his debut, he was picked by almost every driver in Race 1, with Bautista's fastest lap coming on the penultimate lap of the race. For the rest, I think the results on the track speak for themselves. We saw some fantastic and extremely competitive racing in all categories. In WorldSBK with Ducati, Yamaha, BMW and Kawasaki, we had four different manufacturers in the top four places, which demonstrates the extremely high level of competitiveness in this championship. »
