After a great feat this Wednesday when Jules improved David Checa's old record on an R59.266 to 1 in 59.492, the GMT94 Yamaha team met this Thursday morning on the Ile-de-France track for a new and final attempt. .

Cluzel warmed up and tested the track, setting good times from his first laps.

Then Jules then moved up a gear, with his R6 strictly in World Supersport Championship configuration (neither lightened, nor supplied with special fuel, nor equipped with any equipment not in compliance with the SSP world regulations).

Well focused and very motivated, Cluzel achieved a superb time of 58.946, an ideal time for GMT94, so much so that if it had not been real it would have been necessary to invent it! It was a wink of fate, very favorable in these three days with, for example, favorable weather, which was not the case everywhere in France.

The big moment arrived with a historic time from Jules:

Jules cluzel : “These three days of testing are a success for the team and me. We continued to work on our racing bike, and on top of that we got a lap record. It's really awesome. Thank you to the FFM, Circuit Carole and GMT94 for offering me these dream training conditions. This will allow me to attack the second part of the season in the best possible way. »

David Checa, former lap record holder: “ I came to the Carole circuit to see the record fall. All records are made to be broken! Congratulations to Jules! I'm happy for the GMT94 and Christophe for everything it can bring to pilots and bikers. It’s great that the record stays with my friends from GMT94, my family! »

Jacques Bolle, President of the FFM and the Circuit Management Association Carole: “ The time achieved by Jules with a 600 is simply breathtaking. He beat the previous record held by David Checa with a 1000cc by half a second. The Circuit Carole has long been the training base for the GMT94 and Christophe Guyot is accustomed to saying: “ A pilot who goes quickly to Carole goes quickly everywhere”, thus demonstrating that the Circuit Carole deserves its letters of nobility in terms of high level while not forgetting its social vocation which has continued for more than 40 years. »

Regarding pneumatic equipment, Yann Labarthe (Pirelli) specified: “This is the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa V3 in the 180/60 ZR 17 size used until 2019 in the Supersport World Championship. »

“This profile is also present exclusively at the national level within the French Promosport Championship for the 3rd consecutive year. »

“In this case it is equipped with an ultra soft mixture, used only in very short National Championship races or, for maximum performance, on the few laps of a qualifying session. »

“This reference was however not used in WSS due to the more powerful bikes and longer races. »
