Loris Baz

Loris Baz finds the time long and we understand why: the WSBK championship is in the middle of a summer break which will take it until September 9 at the gates of Magny-Cours where it will be the start of the school year. So you have to keep busy to keep the rhythm and in shape and what better way to do that than to continue riding a BMW M1000RR from your Bonovo team? He therefore went to challenge the protagonists of the German IDM championship on an Assen track that he knows. And he did more than well...

Being parachuted into IDM, even for a WSBK rider, is embarking on a risky operation since the bike offered there is quite different from the one available in the world. We must therefore adapt in record time against the specialists in the category galvanized by the idea of beating a regular rider in Superbike. A challenge that Loris Baz rose perfectly by finishing second, and therefore on the podium, in each race, only lowering his flag to his distinguished companion Reiterberger.

On this experience, the pilot BMW Bonovo commented on speedweek : " I knew it wasn't going to be easy because these guys know their bikes very well. I've been a little grumpy all weekend because we got here without a test and we had some concerns “, said the Frenchman. “ For example, the bike often overheated and we struggled with the settings, especially with the brakes, because it's completely different from the world championship bike ».

Loris Baz: “ I had a lot of fun, it's good to be able to run without pressure«

« Nonetheless, it was a lot of fun » rejoices the tricolor 29 years. “ I already knew Markus Reiterberger and raced against him before. In the first race I tried to catch him at the end but he closed all the doors so I wanted to attack in the last chicane but it wasn't enough. I still had a lot of fun and it's great to see so many people here and at the same time to be able to run without pressure ».

« The bike was pretty standard with only minor updates, so it was not easy to come here. Thanks to Bonovo action BMW Racing Team for this opportunity, I had so much fun! Thanks also to Markus for the clean fights! " finished Loris Baz who is now focusing on the test that awaits him in Barcelona next weekend.
