After years of successful collaboration with Kawasaki, Provec Racing has started a new chapter in WorldSBK with Bimota. The first tests of the KB998 at Jerez were very encouraging, suggesting a bright future for the Italian brand.
After 13 successful years with Kawasaki, the Spanish team Provec Racing is set to open a new chapter in the World Championship Superbike, now sporting the colors of Bimota from 2025. This passage surprised many fans, especially since Provec is leaving Kawasaki, with whom they won seven drivers' titles and six constructors' titles, at the request of the Japanese manufacturer itself, keen to strengthen its brand Bimota, of which he is a shareholder.
The only certainty for Provec before taking the handlebars of the new mount, the Bimota KB998, was its engine, based on that of the Kawasaki ZX-10RR.
Bimota sticks to the Ducati philosophy: “ If you turn a prototype into a road bike, the results can be excellent. »
This week, during the Jerez tests, the pilots Alex Lowes et Axel Bassani were able to evaluate the performance of the KB998 on the circuit, with results that are encouraging to say the least. The times speak for themselves " commented the team leader Guim Roda, confident in the capabilities of this bike. He adds: " team leaders and drivers were still in racing mode since the weekend, and it was a good thing. They immediately felt the points to adjust and were able understand the characteristics of the motorcycle »
The approach of Bimota for KB998, focused first on track performance before the production model, follows a model close to that of Ducati. With this new project and the first promising times, Provec et Bimota are determined to make this collaboration a success.
