WSBK, Remy Gardner: “I am a driver who always tries to do his best by giving 100%”

Remy Gardner will therefore not have had the chance to do a second season in a MotoGP where his employer KTM mentioned a “lack of professionalism” towards him. A direct attack which can hurt a career, but the Australian will have the opportunity to respond on the track in 2023, through a new direction in WSBK. Yamaha gave him this chance, but he admits to having also had the Ducati door open. In any case, he is keen to take his revenge on a dark 2022 season which nevertheless followed a 2021 campaign crowned with a Moto2 world title.

Remy gardner came out of his media hibernation by confiding in the columns of GP One on his arrival in WSBK. His mission will be to perpetuate the fine reputation of his Australian nation in this paddock, which is very different from that of the Grands Prix and within which he will wish to rebuild himself. Finally it happened like this and today I am here in Superbike. Maybe I deserved a second chance and if I had, I would have signed, giving 100% like I always did. I am a pilot who always tries to do his best, but maybe they did me a favor ».

« Ultimately, however, I chose Yamaha, because after all the difficulties encountered in 2022, they made me understand that they really wanted me, by presenting me with a much simpler and clearer contract » explains the Australian. “ Ducati also wanted me, but it wasn't concrete given that I would have been repositioned in a satellite team. I saw great conviction from Yamaha and it was nice to see a representative from the factory team say to me, “we want you.” It's the contract. Let's make it a reality ».

Remy gardner is thus looking, in 2023, for transparency and authenticity in the light of a disappointing experience in 2022. It is up to him, now, to prove himself worthy of the chance that Yamaha gives him to get back in the saddle.
