Between Scott Redding and Toprak Razgatlioglu, now distinguished colleagues at BMW, the atmosphere has been set since the Jerez tests which marked the return of WSBK to its 2024 vintage. The Turk has already criticized the Englishman for wanting to play big arm with his team Van der Mark in a context which did not lend itself to this type of demonstration. Redding, who had to give up his place to Razgatlioglu within the official Bavarian team, replied that the track was free, and that he was therefore riding there as he wished. However, the one who is now in the Bonovo satellite team also admits to taking the former Yamaha rider as a model.

Scott Redding, a World Superbike Championship rider, expressed his desire to copy the riding style of Toprak Razgatlioglu. The latter is renowned for its extreme style, characterized by the ability to brake very late and spectacularly, with the rear wheel rarely touching the ground. Redding, who now has access to the data of Razgatlioglu on BMW, seeks to imitate this braking style.

It is noted that Razgatlioglu managed to adapt his braking style to the BMW M1000RR after his passage from Yamaha . The Turkish rider's ability to brake dramatically while controlling the bike impressed his peers. Redding claims he brakes as hard and late as Razgatlioglu, but he recognizes that the latter's style is extreme and he seeks to improve in this area: “ I brake as hard and late as Toprak, but to me it doesn't seem as extreme » he explains on speedweek. " Look at the pictures of me, my path is going in the same direction »Ensures Redding. " That’s why it’s good to have him at BMW – he raises the bar ».

He adds : " so far I have been the strongest on the brakes at BMW. I said it was the limit because it was my limit. That's why I was very excited when it arrived. I wanted to see how he did. Many said he wouldn't be able to slow down the bike like he did until now. I replied that he would manage it one way or another ».

Scott Redding: “ if two people ride motorcycles at the same speed, then the one who brakes later has an advantage. I am working on it »

Redding explain that Razgatlioglu has raised the bar for braking at BMW, pushing him to push his own limits. He points out that the braking style of Razgatlioglu is natural for him, which makes it a unique characteristic: “This way of braking is natural to him. He rides like that on his first lap, it's completely normal for him ».

Scott Redding sees braking later as a competitive advantage, and he actively works to improve his skills in this area by drawing inspiration from the style of Razgatlioglu : " I saw it and realized that I was not the last to brake, that more was possible “, admitted the 12-time WSBK winner. “ This gave me confidence that everything would be fine if I braked later. So I'm trying to work on that. It's damn hard work, that's why you don't see anyone else doing it. Of course, everyone tries, but you can't decide to do it that way. You need some pretty big balls for that. Because it's true: if two people ride motorcycles at the same speed, then the one who brakes later has an advantage. I am working on it he concludes.
