Loris Baz

It is well known in this world that the misfortune of some makes the happiness of others and this time it is that of Loris Baz which should be noted. Because Chaz Davies is recovering from an injury following an accident with Frenchman Lucas Mahias during the last meeting in Barcelona, the Ducati of the Go Eleven team was up for grabs. The tricolor therefore returns to Europe after its season in the United States…

The goal of Loris Baz while going to the championship Superbike at Uncle Sam's was to come back with a pure title to claim the helm of a Panigale V4R globally. Events meant that he was not crowned in the United States, but he will end the season where he hoped to start the 2022 season...

So, a few days after the unfortunate incident in Barcelona, the news is official: Chaz Davies is injured with two broken ribs and will not be able to participate in the Jerez de la Frontera round. The Go Eleven team wishes, first of all, a speedy recovery to its Welsh driver and expects him on the track as soon as possible. The saddle left empty by Chaz will be taken by Loris Baz, the strong French rider who is currently competing in the AMA Superbike championship, with the Ducati V4-R.

Born in 1993, the former pilot of MotoGP has 18 podiums to his credit in the Superbike World Championship, the last of which was last year on the Magny-Cours circuit, then under the colors of Yamaha Ten Kate. Loris was ready and did not wait a second to give his availability to replace Chaz, so much so that he had to take the first flight to Europe, in order to arrive in time for the Jerez round, which takes place from September 24 to 26. Here he is ready to make his debut with number 11 since “his” 76 is already used by another pilot.

Loris Baz is impatient

The Go Eleven team would like to thank Loris, the Warhorse HSBK Racing team, Ducati New York and the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team for making the deal possible in such a short time. Loris Baz commented : " first of all I want to wish Chaz a speedy recovery, it's never nice when a rider gets injured and I hope he can get back on the bike quickly. I would like to thank Team Go Eleven for the opportunity they gave me, as well as Ducati and my team in America, HSBK, and Ducati New York, for allowing me to return to Europe ahead of schedule to take is off to the next WorldSBK races. It was a last minute deal, I still have to sort everything out to get on the flight, but I can't wait to be at Jerez, a circuit that I love so much, and to ride the Superbike version of the Ducati V4-RS. I will do my best and give 100% as always! ».

Denis Sacchetti, the Team Leader, added: “ I just heard from Chaz, he's doing well, but he's upset he can't be with us on the track. His goal now is to recover as quickly as possible for the season finale. I'm sure Loris will be able to represent our colors well, he has already shown what he is capable of. He is a strong, fast rider, with a lot of experience even though he is still very young, and he also knows the characteristics of the V4-R, the bike with which he has just raced in the American championship. I would like to thank Loris for accepting this new challenge and I can't wait to see him on the track with our colors! ».
