Replaced by Loris Baz within Team GoEleven in Jerez next weekend, Chaz Davies, still injured after fracturing two ribs in a crash with Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) during the Tissot – Superpole Race in Barcelona, announced today that he will retire at the end of the 2021 season .

The Welshman finished runner-up to WorldSBK on three occasions in 2015, 2017 and 2018, and 3rd on two other occasions. He regularly challenged for the title throughout his career. The Briton also spent two full seasons in WorldSSP and took the crown in 2011 by 50 points over his nearest rival.

He published a very beautiful letter on social networks.

Chaz Davies : " I would like to announce that I have decided to end my career in WorldSBK.
All I have known is competition, so making such a decision is not easy. Staying away from full-time competition at this level requires conviction in this decision. However, I think it is time to turn the page and open a new chapter since, sooner or later, all good things come to an end.
During my career in BSB, CEV, 125/250/MotoGP, AMA and WorldSBK, I have achieved results and life experience that I could not have dreamed of when my family and I first embarked in this adventure. Throughout the 12 seasons spent in this particular paddock, I am proud to have represented five different manufacturers creating the most amazing memories winning a World Supersport title and a few races in WorldSBK on four different bikes.
This sport has been my life for 27 years and has given me everything, including the best and the worst, which only competition can do. Along this journey, I have met a lot of people, many of whom have now become friends. I have been fortunate to work with some of the best brands and minds in this field. I raced against my heroes and will always have the utmost respect for the competitors I lined up alongside and who motivated me to continually push my own limits. I had the opportunity to travel to parts of the world that the kid from Presteine had never heard of.
Although I am moving away from a full-time WorldSBK saddle, I do not want to call it "retirement" and will continue to actively train and race motorcycles. I love this sport and inside I think I will always be the same fan I was when I was 10 years. »
