The final round of the 2024 season of the WorldSBK Superbike World Championship will take place this weekend on the Jerez de la Frontera track, in the south of Spain.
The circuit located in Andalusia is officially called Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto and Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) arrives as championship leader with 473 points, 46 points ahead of its nearest rival, Nicholas Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) which has 427 points.
With a maximum of 62 points on the line this weekend, both riders will battle for the crown in Jerez, although the game looks relatively easy for Razgatlioglu who will be looking to secure the title in the first of three races. If he loses a maximum of 9 points to Bulega, he will be crowned champion in Race 1…
Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) completes the top three in the standings, 71 points behind Razgatlioglu, and will do everything to help his teammate win, but he is now out of the title race, while Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team), freshly crowned best independent driver at Estoril, occupies fourth place with 292 points.
A historic performance
Alvaro Bautista dominated Jerez in 2023 with a hat-trick of victories, securing the WorldSBK title. The Spanish rider also holds the record for most wins at the circuit, with five to his name.
Toprak Razgatlioglu also tasted victory at Jerez, taking two wins during his stint at Yamaha. Jonathan Rhea (Pata Prometeon Yamaha), Scott Redding (Bonovo Action BMW) and Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) have also enjoyed success at the Spanish circuit. This will be the first time that Nicholas Bulega will race at Jerez in WorldSBK, but he already has a solid track record on the circuit, having claimed a double victory in WorldSSP in 2023.
🕒 Schedule
The first race, which could, or should, be decisive, will start on Saturday at 14:00 p.m.
