Loris Baz will open a new chapter in his career...

Loris Baz is back in a World Superbike race which this weekend in Jerez is a new meeting of his thrilling season. For this happiness, it took the misfortune of an injured Chaz Davies and therefore missing all the way to Portimao. The Frenchman is thus offered two opportunities to shine on the Ducati Go Eleven which has also learned that its current Welsh rider will retire at the end of this year. Which therefore gives us a place to take with a view to 2022. But Loris Baz refuses to make this connection, remembering that at the same time last year, he was convinced of having an official Yamaha to do the season …

Loris Baz learned to put things into perspective and take things as they come. Circumstances meant he was once again on the World Superbike grid this weekend at Jerez. Which confirms that you should never draw too much on the comet: “ At this point a year ago I was 100% convinced that I would be riding a factory Yamaha in the World Superbike Championship. And here I am. Things change very quickly and you never know what will happen. Right now it's all about having fun here and in Portimao " Baz said on Motorsport-total.

He even insists on this meeting in Jerez: “ I have no expectations. I just want to enjoy it and do my best. I always give 100% when I ride. Friday, I want to rediscover the sensations of the Pirelli tires. I want to find a setting that works for me. We start with a sort of basic setup. I just want to enjoy the races ».

Loris Baz rates his chances of doing it again at MotoAmerica in 90 at 2022%

Loris Baz defined late last year and with Ducati this challenge which led him this season to find himself in the MotoAmerica championship. A new world with unknown tracks and Dunlop tires different from Pirelli, not to mention an original transmission on the bike. After many adventures, the tricolor finished fourth in this category. He draws the following conclusion: “ I had to learn to know the courses, the bike and the tires. I had to leave my comfort zone and fight really hard. We didn't have the season we hoped for. But when you consider everything, it was a great season, we had fun. I learned a lot and enjoyed the championship and the people in the United States ».

And for 2022? Its requirements do not change: “ je veux revenir ici et penser que j’ai ma place ici. Mais je ne veux revenir que si j’ai une bonne moto", précise le Français qui termine : « sinon, je préfère rester aux États-Unis. Pour 90 %, je serai aux États-Unis l’année prochaine. J’ai plus ou moins roulé sur la version 2019 de la Ducati. La machine d’usine actuelle est utilisée ici. Elle a les dernières mises à jour. C’est un ensemble solide. J’espère que nous aurons également la version actuelle pour MotoAmerica ».
