Dominique Aegerter

For his second weekend in Superbike, Dominique Aegerter was not spared from the racing events. Totally trapped by the two red flags of the day, the 2022 Supersport world champion wants to do better and we detect a touch of disappointment in his words once the finish line is crossed. He concluded this meeting with a 10th place in Superpole Race, followed by a 12th place in Race 2, and is now in 10th position in the general classification.

Remember : Already yesterday, Dominique Aegerter had to deal with a bad start caused by a hazardous trajectory of Phillip Öttl (Team GoEleven Ducati), then the fall of Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing Ducati) under its wheels. Fortunately, the Swiss showed a good pace, even passing the Kawasaki officials alex lowes et Jonathan Rhea in the last moments.

On this second day of racing, the red flags disrupted the development of his plan. “In the Tissot Superpole Race, we wanted to progress to have a better starting position on the grid for Race 2. Unfortunately, the red flag did not help us at all” says the pilot GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team. “I didn’t have enough grip to attack over such a short distance” he adds. In addition, he caused a collision and received a one-place penalty before the start of the third and final race of the weekend.

Then, again in Race 2 with a new interruption this time caused by the collision between Michael van der Mark (Bonovo Action BMW) and Phillip Öttl in the 7th round. “The fact that there were two starts penalized me, because I was fast after 14 laps in the first race. In any case, I was able to gain a little experience and also see how the tires evolve” says he.

Like the others, Dominique Aegerter will take advantage of the upcoming break to recharge his batteries, stipulating that “his body needs rest after six races in one week ». Overall, the Swiss remains optimistic: “We showed that we were fast. Now we will rest and come back stronger during the next tests in Barcelona. We are on the right track:If we work well and have a little more luck, the results will come."

A commendable state of mind for a driver who could well disrupt the hierarchy if he gets in tune.
