The three strong men of the Superbike season met at the top of the hierarchy at the opening of this Sunday, the Kawasaki rider setting the best time ahead of Scott Redding and Toprak Razgatlıoğlu.

After having frustrated us somewhat yesterday with the postponement of Race 1 due to weather conditions, the Superbike returned to business this Sunday with the warm up. The sun, back above the Mandalika circuit, allowed the resumption of competition in Indonesia, while two events will take place shortly in the championship of motorcycles derived from the series to decide the title at the end of this 2021 season.

The drivers thus ventured onto the track despite the presence here and there of a few persistent patches of humidity, Álvaro Bautista being the first to record a timed lap. The lap times then continued to improve as the track finally dried out, with Scott Redding taking over at the top of the hierarchy, before handing over the reins at the very end of the session to Jonathan Rea.

Razgatlıoğlu ever closer to the grail

The Kawasaki rider, who no longer has anything to lose in the championship and no longer has his destiny in his hands (even if he wins Race 1 just now, it will be enough for his rival Toprak Razgatlioglu to finish second to win the title and thus deprive him of a seventh consecutive coronation), tried everything by signing the best time of this warm-up in 1'34.873 ahead of Redding, and Razgatlıoğlu.

Behind them, Axel Bassani and Andrea Locatelli complete the top 5, ahead of Garrett Gerloff and Michael Ruben Rinaldi, while Chaz Davies, Michael van der Mark and Tom Sykes complete the top 10. You then have to go down to 16th to find Christophe Ponsson, sole French representative in Superbike this weekend.
