Superbike 2021 adds a new round on a track that has never hosted a world championship event. The race will take place from August 6 to 8, and an agreement was signed for five years.
New frontiers
The entry of Most is not a palliative to set up a calendar still in “pandemic” format but a new strategy for the promoter Dorna. Indeed, a five-year agreement has been signed, including a similar commitment with Nova TV, which will offer coverage of all championship races in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Largely built in the early 80s, the circuit hosted the 1987-1988 European Speed Championship, which was at the time a preparatory event for the move to MotoGP. In 2004, the facility underwent a major renovation and today the infrastructure is up to standard. This is a medium-fast track, designed to ensure a good show. This will be another unknown for drivers and teams, as it is obvious that no one has tested it yet.
Will there also be spectators?
It has not yet been decided whether the Most event will be able to accommodate spectators or not: The decision will be made in a few months, depending on the rules that will be dictated by the local health authorities.
